Holidays!!

With twins on the way at the end of the year we decided to head off on one last peaceful holiday, we ended up choosing the island of Panglao in the Philippines pretty much by random.

We stayed at the wonderful Ananyana hotel which was a tiny boutique hotel all on its own on a perfect stretch of beach.
The only others at the beach were the local kids, never shy of a photo opportunity!

One morning we got up at 4.30am to go off in search of dolphins
I somehow managed to not get a pic of them but we found a huge group of 40 or so and followed them round for an hour or so.

Panglao is probably one of the quietest places on earth. A tiny island to the South West of Bohol it has a few villages and only a couple of thousand inhabitants. We were there during Fiesta week though so the main square round the church of St Augustin was mad.
We hopped in a Tuc Tuc to go check out the Fiesta
The kids from each village had spent weeks putting together costumes and elaborate dance routines for a huge pop idol style dance-off!
This girl was on the team that eventually won
The whole island turned out so people climbed trees for the best view!
Local buses!
The island was fairly wild, all sorts of farm animals were just walking around.
We went to Bohol to check out the Chocolate Hills, over a thousand small hills which were a result of a volcanic activity and coral deposits.
Then we went to see the local monkeys called Tarsiers (apparently they are not monkeys at all and are VERY rare)
We had lunch on a riverboat cruising through the jungle...
...stopping only to listen to a traditional Philipino guitar band playing Boyzone classics!
Couple more days hanging around in hammocks and then it was back home unfortunately!
