See you next month!

Whilst Justin and Paula were in town we did the obligatory trip to "oscars" our DVD shop. I don't think we'll be going out much in the next few weeks!

Treasure Island Ball

Last weekend was the annual British Chamber of Commerce Ball, the theme was Treasure Island which could mean only one thing... a trip to the fabric market!

I took the pirate option, Claire took the more glamourous option!

Des made a great wench and was responsible for my eyeshadow!

Since our trip to the park JeanMichel and I have realised Limos are the only way to travel in Shanghai! Here we are again!

The ball was about an hour out of Shanghai at SheShen (right next to the park where we had our first limo experieince!) There were 700 people there - brilliant!

James did a great job of organising our table and came in a 3 piece Gold sequined suit as... The Treasure!

Ed with his parrot, and girlfriend Wing!

aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhh!!!

Cecile picked up a hook somewhere!

Plastic Swords + Free Booze =

etc...

Rest of the week was more tourism, shopping and eating...

Daytime Bund..,.

South Beauty...
Jinmao tower - tallest hotel in the world, reception on 54th floor!

View upwards from the lobby!
Drinks on the Bund...

1221...

Bye Guys, was great having you!

Daytrip to HangZhou

There's a saying in Chinese "Above is heaven, below is Hangzhou" so we all got up early to go see if it was true. We headed to the new Shanghai South Railway station...
Where Cecile and Paula checked out the Losting Found department. Then off we went.
The most famous sight in HangZhou is the huge West Lake which is very peaceful and serene.
The best views can be had from the pagodas around the lake.

This one had an escalator!

View from the top.
This temple contained a lock of Buddha's hair...apparently
After lunch we took a boat trip on the lake with our guide for the day Gladys who was brilliant!

Apparently there are only 3 ducks on the lake, we found one of them!
I really liked this boat but apparently it was for government officials only!
A quick spot of Buddha endorsed shopping then...
Back to the station.
Great day out and thanks again Gladys!

Lazy Sunday

We headed off for Brunch at Crystal Jade in XinTianDi, Dim Sum.

Strolling around XinTianDi

Chefs hard at work on our Dim Sum

mmmmm delicious.

After lunch we headed to Fu Xing Park where our friend Kim was holding an exhibition of his paintings.

Justin posing in the park.

We bought this painting from Kim who sold almost all his work - Well Done Kim!!
The girls went shopping whilst Justin and I had a pint at the British Bulldog! That night we tried Yunan cuisine at Lost Heaven.

fresh fruit, yummy!

Saturday Night

Saturday Night in Shanghai is not much different from any other big city - dinner, drinks, then dancing. Although the views are slightly better and the bill is slightly less!
Dinner at Finestre with the Shanghai skyline behind us.
Looking out onto the Bund.
View from the dinner table!
After a couple of Tequila's in Attica!

Yu Gardens

On the Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed to the Yu Gardens, one of the oldest areas in Shanghai.

Entrance to "china town"!

Girls on the "Bridge of Nine Turns", which is a bridge with nine turns. Apparently it wards of evil spirits, I think they have problems making turns!

In the Yu Gardens

Did we want to dress up in ancient costumes and get our pictures taken? Of course...
