Hong Kong

I had to go to Hong Kong for work so flew out a couple of days early with Cecile as she had never been before.

View from our hotel - which was great despite the weather!

We spent the day wandering the streets of Soho

Which are pretty steep!

Then we met up with Lyndon who was a student of Cecile's in London, he moved out to Hong Kong with his girlfriend and is now teaching English (having forgotten all the French Cecile taught him!)

After dinner we headed to Lan Kwai Fong which is a crazy bar area in Hong Kong like something out of Bangkok!

Next day we headed off for some retail therapy.

It was French Week in Hong Kong do they had a mini Eiffel Tower!

The RING

So one month after getting engaged in Thailand I had organised for Cecile's engagement ring to be made in Hong Kong. On April 9th (our 3rd anniversary!!!) I surprised her again with the ring. Here it is:

Dinner on the Bund

My boss was in town this week so after seemingly endless days of meetings on Friday night we all headed to The Bund for dinner at Finestre which was delicious. The terrace there gives great views of the Bund and Pudong.

Mark, Sinead and Cecile admiring the view.

View of Pudong which 15 years ago was paddy fields!

Picnic

Last weekend we went for a picnic around an hour or so outside of Shanghai in a dog-friendly park so Jean-Michel and Des' dog Oscar could get some exercise. JM was in charge of organising the car and booked a people-carrier. When they called him the day before to tell him he had been upgraded he thought nothing of it... until this showed up:

Oh yea! stretch limo complete with bar, DVD player, plasma screen, neon lights and mirrored ceiling!!

We stopped off at Carrefour, bought a tonne of food and headed off for the classiest picnic ever!

The park was pretty cool, it had a huge man made lake, a fake beach and lots of green space which is not something you see much of in Shanghai

There were quite a few school kids there who all said hello!

The beach had some pretty weird sculptures...

...and a bunch of giant penguins!

We all had a great time, especially Oscar who found some new friends!
